High Level of Iron Content in Water, Leading to Skin Diseases and Gallstones in Kishanganj Bihar

A large population is at risk in Kishanganj district, located in the north-east of the state of Bihar, due to water-borne diseases.

Residents of the Pothia village are dependent on wells, and tubewells, however, the water is not safe for drinking as the presence of iron and fluoride concentration is exceeding the permissible level in drinking water.

Scarce amenities near a tourist spot

In Gram Panchayat Ratega (Bijakasa), Bastar District, the Government has declared a Waterfall as a tourist spot. But in and around that area for about 5 kilometres, the residents are facing acute water shortage and other basic amenities, such as all weather roads etc.
